Overview

Fix the cause, not just the symptom. Structural repairs follow an engineer’s plan.

Sagging floors, a soft post, a settling porch or a cracked stem wall often have a cause behind them, such as water, rot or movement. We find out what’s going on before anything gets patched.

Not sure whether a problem is structural? Start with a paid structural assessment. An experienced builder looks at it, and you get a written photo report with prioritized recommendations.

Who’s on your project

  • Aleks Razumovsky, owner. He personally manages every job.
  • Architect Alan Hess. Our long-time partner handles plans, drawings and permits when a project needs them.
  • Bill Marczewski, P.E., BSM Engineering. Structural engineering when a project needs it, billed separately by BSM Engineering.
  • Fixed pricing. After we see the project and agree on the scope, you get a fixed price with no hidden fees. We warranty our work.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can you fix a sagging floor or beam?

Yes. We repair beams, joists and posts. Because that’s structural work, our engineer at BSM Engineering creates the repair plan first, then Aleks gives you an estimate for the recommended repair and our crew does the work.

Do I need an engineer for this repair?

For structural problems, yes. We don’t design structural repairs or draw repair plans. Our engineer at BSM Engineering creates the repair plan, and engineering is billed separately by BSM Engineering. For non-structural repairs and maintenance, Aleks can often give you an estimate on the spot.

Can you give me an estimate today?

For non-structural repairs and maintenance, Aleks can often give you an estimate right on the spot. For structural repairs, Aleks gives you an estimate after our engineer at BSM Engineering has created the repair plan.

Should I get a structural assessment first?

If you’re not sure whether a problem is structural, yes. A paid structural assessment by an experienced builder tells you what’s cosmetic, what’s maintenance and what’s structural, with a written photo report and prioritized recommendations.

How much does a repair cost?

It depends on the repair. Non-structural repairs and maintenance can often be estimated on the spot. Structural repairs are priced from the engineer’s repair plan. Either way, you get a fixed price with no hidden fees.

Do you take commercial projects?

We’re mostly residential, with some light commercial. Most of our projects are homes, additions and ADUs in the Portland area.
